Facilities

Our research group is home to state-of-the-art facilities in digital marine technology, specifically designed to support advanced research and innovation in marine science. Our facilities include a specialised lab equipped with the latest in imaging and data processing technology, allowing us to capture and analyze high-resolution underwater visuals, create 3D reconstructions, and conduct real-time data analysis. We utilize cutting-edge software and hardware for photogrammetry, hydrophone data processing, and digital modeling, which enables us to study marine ecosystems with unprecedented detail and accuracy. These tools also allow us to monitor environmental changes over time, providing valuable insights for conservation and restoration efforts.

In addition to imaging and analysis technology, we offer facilities for virtual and augmented reality simulations, enabling researchers to visualize and interact with marine environments in immersive 3D spaces. These simulation tools are invaluable for training scientists, divers, and environmental managers, as they provide realistic experiences of complex underwater habitats. Our VR and AR capabilities support projects across disciplines, from biodiversity assessments and habitat mapping to marine archaeology and digital humanities. By combining these digital tools with scientific diving and fieldwork, our facilities serve as the platform for pioneering marine research and offer an vital resource for our university community and industry partners alike.
